KEY VERSE:
“And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.” – (Mark 6:56).
SCRIPTURE READING: Mark 6:53-56 (KJV)
53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,
55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
DCLM Daily Manna – 17th October 2025 MESSAGE:
Delia Knox, a woman from Alabama, United States, was paralysed for over two decades as a victim of drunk driving accident in 1987. Through her strong faith in Jesus Christ, she experienced a miraculous healing on Christmas Day in 2010 during a church service. Knox felt a sensation in her legs and was filled with energy, allowing her to walk again.
Knox’s story shows the power of practical faith and positive action in overcoming adversity through miracles. Such was the case when Jesus returned to the land of Gennesaret. It seemed that this city lived up to the meaning of its name in every way. Gennesaret means a prince and it was exceedingly pleasant and fertile. The people recognised Jesus (as the Great Physician) as He had ministered there before. Their faith and expectations were high. They went far and near to bring their sick ones to Him for healing. They believed that a mere touch of Christ’s garment was sufficient to get healed. Jesus consented, and as many as touched Him in faith, regardless of the severity of their sickness, were healed.
Notice the untiring readiness of our Lord Jesus Christ “who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil…” He is ever willing to save sinners, heal the sick, and deliver the oppressed. As soon as He landed, He set to work and the faith of the people matched His passion. We should not passionately trust Jesus only for healing and material blessings, but also for the saving of our souls and other spiritual blessings that He gives to sincere seekers.
Jesus still heals today, for as the Scripture says, He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). We can trust Him for our healing. We can also take a cue from the charity of the people of Gennesaret to bring our suffering neighbours, relations, colleagues, and friends to Jesus, especially at occasions such as gospel crusades and church meetings. Just set the time, trust the Lord and your testimony lurks around the corner.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When our faith meets with God’s faithfulness, a spark of blessing occurs.
