TOPIC: Standing in God’s Divine Plan
OPENING PRAYER: Help me to understand the exceeding greatness of your power as I read through this passage, dear Lord.
SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 22:1-23
Daily Guide 3rd April 2025 Devotional – OUTLINE
Running away from Saul’s threat of death, David immediately began to exert his leadership and godly influence on diverse kinds of people who had been shattered and battered (1 Samuel 22:1-2). He finally turned them into mighty men by the transformational power of God’s presence (2 Samuel 23:8-23).
David ensured the wellbeing and security of his parents. This is right in the centre of our African custom. What are you doing to make your parents and close relations comfortable?
Notice the depth to which Saul sank to keep his hold on power including fanning of tribal sentiments and the killing of many innocent priests, children, and infants. This is what happens when you have an insecure leader like Saul, surrounded by men of low virtues, like Doeg, who will do anything to please the leader and that, for selfish gains. Are these familiar in your country?
Notice Ahimelech’s courageous response to the king’s accusation reminding him the raw truth. He did not fear death as a minister of God. How we need such ministers of the Gospel today. Like the guards, we must courageously say no to ungodly instructions from our boss (1 Samuel 22:17). See Acts 4:18-20.
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
Closing Prayer:
Pray that your leaders will abhor wickedness but stand firmly for the truth.
