DAILY GUIDE 2 DECEMBER 2024 – MONDAY OUTLINE
Wherever you are in your journey of faith as a Christian, situations and questions will keep coming up that will challenge the steadfastness of your commitment and confidence in God. The only way to keep going and gaining in the “victory that has overcome the world” (v.4) is to keep faith in what God has said in His Word – the testimony of God (v.9). Holding on to God’s testimony gives the believer assurance of God’s salvation.
The phrase, “sin that leads to death” can be seen from two angles:
If spiritual death, it may refer to those who follow the doctrines of the devil and so persistently deny Jesus’ full deity and full incarnation (vs.19,20). If physical death, it may refer to God’s judgment on believers who continue to persist in sin. See 1 Corinthians 5:1-5, 11-13.
John concludes his letter with three basic Christian truths, stating them as matters of fact. Read the following verses and fill in the blanks:
* v.18 – “We know ________”
* v.19 – “We know ________”
* v.20 – “We know ________”
The Christian must know for a fact that we have a real and authentic relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
What are idols, and why are idols so dangerous in the life of a Christian (v.21)?
* Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?
CLOSING PRAYER
Dear Lord, thank you that I have a real relationship with you through Jesus. Help me to keep away from anything that might take your place in my heart.
Offer a prayer of faith in line with Ephesians 5:20
“Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”
