ANGLICAN COMMUNION DAILY FOUNTAIN 13 MARCH 2024, WEDNESDAY MESSAGE

Daily Fountain 13 March 2024 Devotional TOPIC: Jesus Still Performs Miracles

TEXT: John 9: 24-34(NKJV)
9:24. So they again called the man who was blind, and said to him, “Give God the glory! We know that this Man is a sinner.”
9:25. He answered and said, “Whether He is a sinner [or not] I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see.”

9:26. Then they said to him again, “What did He do to you? How did He open your eyes?”
9:27. He answered them, “I told you already, and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear [it] again? Do you also want to become His disciples?”

9:28. Then they reviled him and said, “You are His disciple, but we are Moses’ disciples.
9:29. “We know that God spoke to Moses; [as for] this [fellow,] we do not know where He is from.”
9:30. The man answered and said to them, “Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know where He is from; yet He has opened my eyes!

9:31. “Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.
9:32. “Since the world began it has been unheard of that anyone opened the eyes of one who was born blind.
9:33. “If this Man were not from God, He could do nothing.”
9:34. They answered and said to him, “You were completely born in sins, and are you teaching us?” And they cast him out.

Anglican Communion Daily Fountain Devotional 13 March 2024 STUDY:

The Pharisees were highly influential and revered in the Jewish community of Jesus’ time. They reserved the right to justify, condemn, and sentence. The rising popularity of Jesus however posed a big threat to their influence in society, hence they viewed him as their rival and enemy. Their hatred and indignation towards Jesus grew to the extent that they would never see anything good in what He did, so they sought to kill Him at all costs (John 5: 9-12; 16-18).

They became more embittered by the fact that Jesus was performing great supernatural works which confirmed His divine authority. The case of the blind man healed in today’s passage was an example of their indignation against Jesus. All their questionings of the man and his parents were aimed to disprove Jesus’ authority and to deny the reality of the miraculous healing power of God but to the glory of God and their shame, the miracle was undeniable, for all eyes could see it, and mouths testified to its reality.

Some people today, like the Pharisees of old, believe that the era of miracles has passed and are denying the miraculous power of Jesus. However, God still performs wonders today. At the mention of the name of Jesus, the sick are healed, captives are set free, and the poor receive the good news and are blessed. The blessings are ours to receive and to share with all members of our household, community, nation, and beyond. Though there are enemies of the gospel around us who will seek at all times to despise/discourage us, we must stand strong.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, please give me a miracle today that cannot be disputed, Amen!

THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Commit all that you do to Me and your plans will be successful. Proverbs 16:3
