Devotional Message:
Life often brings seasons of loneliness, uncertainty, and struggle. In these moments, it can feel as if no one notices our pain or understands our situation. But the story of Hagar in Genesis 16 reveals a beautiful truth about God’s character—He is Jehovah El Roi, the God who sees us.
Hagar was a servant, mistreated and rejected, fleeing into the wilderness. She likely felt invisible and forgotten. Yet, in her distress, God met her, spoke to her, and assured her that He saw her affliction. Moved by this encounter, she declared God as El Roi, the One who sees.
This powerful truth is just as relevant today. Whether you feel overlooked at work, abandoned in a relationship, or lost in the chaos of life, God sees you. He sees your struggles, your tears, your dreams, and your prayers. You are never beyond His loving gaze. His sight is not just passive observation—it is filled with compassion, love, and divine purpose.
When life feels overwhelming, remember that Jehovah El Roi is watching over you, guiding you, and providing for your needs. You are never alone.
Reflection Questions:
- Have you ever felt unseen or forgotten? How does knowing that God sees you bring comfort?
- In what areas of your life do you need to trust that God is aware and working on your behalf?
- How can you encourage someone else today with the truth that God sees and cares for them?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I thank You that You are Jehovah El Roi, the God who sees me. Even in my loneliest moments, I am not forgotten. You see my struggles, my heartache, and my needs. Help me to trust in Your loving presence and to rest in the assurance that I am never alone. Fill me with peace, knowing that You are watching over me with care and compassion. May I also be Your hands and feet to remind others that they are seen and loved. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Closing Thought: No matter what you face today, take comfort in knowing that Jehovah El Roi sees you, loves you, and is with you. Trust in His perfect plan and walk confidently in His care.
