DAILY BIBLE VERSE
that if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. — Rom 10:9
Salvation is a powerful word, unfolding in three tenses:
The Past Tense: We were saved the moment we first trusted Christ. This salvation is a distinct and definite act, granted to us when we placed simple faith in Jesus. “Being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him” (Romans 5:9).
The Present Tense: “To us who are being saved, Christ is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18). We are continually being saved from the love and power of sin. Christ’s presence acts like a disinfectant, protecting us from the deadly germs of temptation. God’s mighty hand continually holds the door against the adversary’s attempts. His grace constantly cleanses us from the smallest sins. “We are being saved by His life” (Romans 5:10).
The Future Tense: We are kept by God’s power for a salvation ready to be revealed at the last time (1 Peter 1:5). Salvation includes forgiveness that erases our sins, deliverance from the curse and penalty of wrongdoing, freedom from the power of sinful habits, growing likeness to Christ, and ultimately the resurrection of our bodies, transformed in spiritual beauty and energy to be with Him forever.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
O blessed Spirit of God, give us the assurance that we are children of God, sons and daughters of the Almighty. Prepare us for the glory to be revealed and for that great moment when all creation, groaning now in pain, will be set free into the glorious liberty of the children of God. Amen.
