DAILY BIBLE VERSE
Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from what He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him — Heb 5:8-9 BSB
For the long, steep climb of life, our Father has given us a Companion, a Captain for the journey, and a Brother—Jesus our Lord, who endured the suffering of death and is now crowned with glory and honor (Hebrews 2:9-11). He has walked our path, climbed our mountains, and now offers His strength to us as a merciful and faithful Friend. In this way, He was made perfect and became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey Him.
By His nature, Jesus was always perfect. The fullness of God dwelled in Him. But since we are flesh and blood, He also took on our human nature. He had to become like us in every way. To each of us, He says, “I’ve walked this path before you, and I know every step.” Christ is the Great-Heart, the Companion for all who journey in faith.
Yet, if we are to walk with Him and receive His eternal salvation, we must learn to obey. This is a lesson even nature teaches. A scientist must be precise, down to the smallest detail, or all their work will fail. An engineer must obey every principle exactly, or even the most powerful machine will break down. In the spiritual realm, disobedience leads to far greater losses. We must obey, even when we don’t understand. It’s not for us to question, but to trust and follow.
The strength to obey is a gift from God. Just as an angel came to strengthen Jesus, so too does God send strength to us when we walk difficult and dark paths. But we don’t see that angel until we reach our Gethsemane. It’s because our Lord experienced these things that He can now offer salvation to all who obey.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
Eternal Savior, who knows every step of this challenging path, we come to You for help. Give us the strength to obey Your voice, and in every moment of weakness or fear, stand with us as our ever-present help. Amen.
