TOPIC: MY YEAR OF LIFTING UP (1)

TEXT: 1 Samuel 2:8-10; Job 22:18-30; 36:7; Matthew 23:12.

1 Samuel 2:8-10
8 He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD’S, and he hath set the world upon them.

9 He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
10 The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the LORD shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.

Job 22:18-30
18 Yet he filled their houses with good things: but the counsel of the wicked is far from me.
19 The righteous see it, and are glad: and the innocent laugh them to scorn.
20 Whereas our substance is not cut down, but the remnant of them the fire consumeth.
21 Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.

22 Receive, I pray thee, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in thine heart.
23 If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt be built up, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles.
24 Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the stones of the brooks.
25 Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.

26 For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.
27 Thou shalt make thy prayer unto him, and he shall hear thee, and thou shalt pay thy vows.
28 Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.

29 When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person.
30 He shall deliver the island of the innocent: and it is delivered by the pureness of thine hands.

Job 36:7
7 He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted.

Matthew 23:12
12 And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

KEY VERSE: When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. Job 22:29.

Bible Study: My Year of Lifting MESSAGE:

My Year of Lifting Up simply means it is the year in which you will be announced for celebration, a change of position by virtue of promotion and not demotion. It generally depicts a rise to a new level where you become more visible. It could be your business gaining international recognition, Redemption Ministries as a church becoming a household name. For some, your lifting up will make you globally visible and sought after by many.

No one was born with a certificate of failure or “never do well in life.” However, the prevailing circumstances and situations around us have a way of redefining what the future holds.

For Jabez, it appears he was designed by his mother to be a specimen of poverty and a distinguished failure in life. The mother was sure of this position and going by the challenging moments in her life and the family, she concluded that NOTHING COULD EVER CHANGE and hence she immortalized the condition with a stigmatized name JABEZ meaning SORROW from which you can easily get SORRY for everything in life.

Sadly, many promising young boys and girls have had to go through life with this strange mentality that “whatever will be, will be;” neither willing nor ready to fight the battles of life. For Jabez, it never ended in shame as he triumphed over life’s battles and was LIFTED UP with the title Honourable. May you have a title of Honour added to your name this year. Yours may be from Miss to Mrs, Mr to Dr, struggling business man to Distinguished business mogul, Brother to Pastor, Sister to Deaconess, etc.
