Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, or God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 17 January 2022 Outline

God, the father of the people of Judah, disciplined them by removing their covering, so their enemies were free to overcome them and take them away from their God‐given land. The nations around marched to and fro as they fought to dominate each other. They tampered with the land – ‘the mountains, hills, ravines and valleys’, not expecting God’s people to return home from exile.

Notice the judgment God pronounced on them (v.7) and the promise of restoration to Judah (vs.8‐16). The people the enemies were mocking remain God’s people. The land belongs to the Lord and His people. No matter how long God’s judgment on His people may last, His mercy rules. God’s mercies endure for ever. Israel is symbolic of the Church and like her, the Church will always come under the enemy’s attack. When we, as the people of God, see afflictions in our lives, we should not give up and think that God has forsaken us. No! We should rather believe our God and be faithful to Him. He will fight our battles for us.

• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Pray that God will fulfil His promise in vs.8‐12 in your situation.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with Isaiah 41:10

PRAYER FOCUS
CRACKS IN THE WALL
That is why your sin will be like a high wall with a bulging crack, ready to fall. All of a sudden it will fall. Isaiah 30:13

THANK GOD FOR:
› The timely warning about allowing cracks in our homes, fellowships, churches and even in our lives and fellowship with God. › The presence of the Holy Spirit who keeps guiding and warning us of the danger of allowing cracks in our lives.

PRAY FOR:
• Revival in our lives, families, fellowships, church and even nation, especially in these end time. • Brethren to be alert and watchful to avoid anxiety, worries or even placing ourselves in situations that we cannot control ourselves. • The light of God to shine in us as it will expose those ugly and broken areas of our lives that need mending.

PRAY AGAINST:
∷ Deliberately ignoring the early signs of things that will not glorify God in our lives, families, fellowships and church. ∷ Things that will make us set our hearts on them, instead of setting them on Christ even in these evil days.
