Scripture Union Daily Guide 15 January 2022 | SU Devotional | Outline

The Lord did not have problem with the leaders alone. Followers were often equally evil, not only in relation to leaders, but also in relation to one another. God condemned Egypt for ‘muddying the waters for others’ as her way of showing her greatness (Ezekiel 32:2). We equally have some in the Church who oppress other members. They cause confusion by their behaviour and teachings leading to disheartening and subsequent exit of some members. What else did God speak against in vs.20‐21? Once again, God comes to the rescue of His people. He restores unity under the only Shepherd whom all must acknowledge. This Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ, the Son of David (vs.23‐24), promised to protect the sheep from the thief, Satan, the one who comes only ‘to steal, to kill and to destroy’ (John 10:10). When this happens, His people enter into a new covenant with Him and show great love towards one another. Look at the blessing that would follow this in vs.25‐31. How can this be true of your church? See Psalm 133:1‐3, John 17:20‐23.
