• Is there any warning for me to heed?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 14 January 2022 | SU Devotional | Outline

Read vs.1‐10 again and identify God’s charges against the shepherds of His people. Find out also from there what they should have done. Sheep are totally dependent on their shepherds for provision and protection. Without their care, the sheep are at the mercy of wild animals. They go astray and become lost. Hence God’s declaration that He will take over the responsibility of shepherding His flock (vs.11‐16). Note all that God promised to do for His flock and see how they are fulfilled in the Chief Shepherd of the sheep (John 10:11‐18, 27‐29). Underscoring the importance of Christian leaders taking good care of their flocks, Christ charged Apostle Peter three times to feed and tend His flock (John 21:15‐18). We must examine ourselves and ensure that we meet God’s expectations of us as Christian leaders (Acts 20:28‐30; 1 Peter 5:1‐4). We must return to holistic ministry of caring for the flocks especially those who are weak and hurting (vs.12,16).
