TODAY’S READING
Matthew 7:7-12
KEY VERSE: Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7 (NIV)
The Upper Room 11 January 2022 Daily Devotional Message
Over 30 years ago, I experienced early-onset menopause. I was a mother and working full-time at a bank while my husband had just changed his career path. Fearing an increased risk of breast cancer, I did not take hormone therapy treatment. As a result, I suffered from many disturbing symptoms.
When I turned to my sister for advice, she suggested that I pray for God’s help. I hesitated. Why would God listen to my prayer? I was not even a churchgoer. But she encouraged me to pray with all my heart, not worrying about what God would do. By God’s mercy, I gained strength in dealing with my situation after praying faithfully every day. As I found peace amidst my challenging symptoms, I began to understand how much God loves me. I started attending Sunday services and studying the Bible with fellowship friends, and I joined our church choir.
All these years God has answered many of my prayers. Looking back, those answers are truly miracles in my life, and my sister was a loving angel sent to me by God. How wonderful it is, getting to know God starting with only a faithful prayer!
