Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any command for me to obey?

Scripture Union Daily Guide 8 January 2022 Outline:

This occasion was not the first time Peter and Jesus were meeting (see John 1:35‐42). That may explain the reason Jesus readily borrowed Peter’s boat and along with the miracle of the fish, the reason Peter addressed Jesus as Lord or Master. Jesus did not use Peter’s boat for free. He surprised Peter with the miracle of a boatful of fish.

We never lose when we serve God with our lives and belongings. Notice however the obedience of Peter even though it did not make professional sense to him (vs.5‐7). (Someone jokingly said the fish also came to listen to the Lord’s message.) We will do well to obey the Lord in all things. It appears that the main purpose of Jesus’ visit to the seaside was mainly to call His first three disciples.

Following the miracle of the fish, Jesus commissioned them to face a new direction – ‘catching’ people for the Lord. Notice the disciples prompt obedience and the price they had to pay (v.11). When Jesus calls you, are you ready to answer, ‘yes’, and sacrifice all for His kingdom and service?
