Read vs.1‐2 again and notice the spiritual state of Jesus before His temptation. God the Father had just approved of Him. He was on a special spiritual journey and the Holy Spirit having descended on Him remains with and was leading Him. Often, we too are tempted when we are at the pinnacle of our spiritual or ministry journey, are in position of authority. or when we are physically and emotionally weakened by hunger or loneliness. Apostle John warns of the three areas the devil often tempts us – the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:16, NKJV).
Meditate on vs.3‐12 and see how these played out in the life of Jesus. In all cases, Jesus demonstrated not only his ability to resist the devil, but also his allegiance to God the Father. Notice the weapon he used when He was tempted by devil. Look at Genesis 3:6 and observe how the first Adam failed in the three temptation areas. Jesus, the second Adam, conquered the devil completely and He is ever ready to assist us through His Spirit to overcome the evil one.

• Ask the Lord for grace to flee from any form of temptation that the devil may bring in your live. The Holy Spirit is ready to help you overcome.
