Topic: Dearth of the godly!
Opening Prayer: Let me know more of you today dear Lord as I meditate on your word.
Scripture: Psalm 12:1-8
Question(s) for Reflection
• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
• Is there any warning for me to heed?
David found himself in a lonely and depressing situation when he felt all the godly had vanished from the land (v.1). Finding oneself in such situation can be very devastating and depressing. David was not alone (cf., Elijah in 1 Kings 19:4,14)! Are our own present-day societies any better? How easy is it for the godly and faithful to live and carry out their day to day activities today? Instead, what we have is widespread corruption and oppression. Many who claim to be born-again, Spirit-filled Christians, even some in high leadership positions, have joined the rat race. ‘If you can’t beat them, join them’! Notice the assurance of God’s intervention in vs.5-6 (compare 1 Kings 19:15-18). God has promised in His Word to defend the defenceless and punish sin. His Word and promises are sure. Even while the wicked may continue to pursue their evil and corruption is exalted in the land (v.8), may we continue to trust in the Lord to fulfil His promises. Make this the basis of your prayer today as in v.7.

Closing Prayer
• Pray for grace to obey Him.
• Pray against harmful books and multimedia materials that masquerade as Christian materials.
