The Upper Room 26th December 2021 Daily Devotional

My dad passed away a few years ago. I often remember him, particularly when I am in an emotional downturn. I miss his support.

I remember his goodness. He would always cook for us and leave us the best food. He carried heavy items for us. He was a fighter, undergoing many surgeries and invasive medical checkups. He would do all of this with courage and independence.

Yet, he was not perfect. We often had arguments because he was stubborn and didn’t listen to others. He struggled to understand what my sister and I felt and thought. He rarely cared about what we studied at school or how we spent our days at work.

My father had good and bad characteristics. However, in our family, my father’s biggest legacy was leading us to God. He can no longer cook for us. Nor can he walk next to us and carry our shopping bags. But because of him, we met God and we believe in the Lord.

So, I am not an orphan. I am not alone. I know both God and my father cheer my family on to finish our race.
