Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?
• Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for?
• Is there any prayer for me to remember?
Outline: The Holy Spirit reveals the scope of the salvation received through faith in Christ and the privileges of our sonship. Read vs.14,15 and note what Paul did after receiving such a revelation. From vs.16-19, carefully outline specific prayer points he dwelt on for the believers. His prayer life was one secret of the impact of his ministry. What a contrast to ours today! Our many conferences, camps and outreaches produce converts but many of them fail to grow to become disciples because of lack of specific intercessory prayer support and follow-up.
Why not learn to pray this type of prayer for yourself and those God brings to Himself through you? Again, the Holy Spirit directed the depth and scope of his prayer (see Romans 8:26,27). How much of your life is controlled by the Holy Spirit? When the Holy Spirit directs your life and ministry you will make impact at home, in the church and the society.
