Topic: What Is God Revealing To Me In This Passage?
Opening Prayer: As I read your word O Lord, grant me an insight and grace to do your will in Jesus name.
Scripture: Proverbs 29:1-15

• Is there any warning for me to heed?
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
List some of the key words in this passage. Words like ‘righteous’, ‘wise’, ‘justice’, as against the words, ‘wicked’, ‘fool’, ‘evil’. Read carefully the verses which carry these words and meditate on each of them. Compare v.1 with 2 Timothy 3:16-17. When Scripture reproves us, yet we continue to reject its counsel, it leads only to our detriment and ultimate destruction.
Compare vs.2,4 ,12 and 14 with 1 Timothy 2:1-3. Christians are enjoined by the word of God to pray for national leaders. When there is righteous leadership there is generally joy in a country and the nation develops. Wickedness and corruption only lead to the tearing down of the nation. See also Proverbs 14:34.
Compare vs.3,8,9,11 and 15 with 2 Timothy 3:15 and 1 Corinthians 12:8. When we receive Christ as our personal Saviour and Lord, God gives us the Holy Spirit. One of His gifts is wisdom. This wisdom from God makes us wise unto salvation, makes our parents glad at our youth and teaches us to control our temper. It is only Christ Jesus who is the King whose throne is established forever. God invites us to belong to the kingdom of God by accepting the finished work of Christ on the cross.
