TEXT: “Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.” Exodus 17 :8.
Omega Fire Devotional 28 July 2021 Message
Life is a battle ground, on your way to Canaan expect opposition to arise against you. You must be ready to contend with oppositions if you will make heldway on your journey.
The first kind of opposition which we will centre on is external opposition.
These are oppositions from the outside such as those from outside your household, not colleagues and friends, or brethren etc.
For the Israelites it was oppositions from other nations such as our anchor text spelt put. For no just cause Amalek rose up and fought with Israel. These were a people on a journey, they had nothing against them, but because they wanted to hinder their journey, they attacked them; but thank God, the Israelites are a people of battle and their God is a man of war. Exodus 15 :3.
They went out and fought against them and defeated them.
Later on, a time came when they didn’t want to fight, they just wanted to peacefully pass through the land of the Amorites and they sent messengers to Sihon, King of the Amorites saying, “Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields or into the vineyards we will not drink of the waters of the well: but will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy border.” But Sihon did not allow them to pass, rather he gathered all his people together and went out against Israel in battle and Israel smote him with the edge of the sword and possessed his land.
Child of God, whether you like it or not, opposition will arise against you because life will not give you what you wish for but what you contend for.
So live ready as a soldier of Christ and fight
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, I awake my spiritual muscles to fight.
