Fear of God

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Eccl. 4-6

TEXT: Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man. Luke 18:2

There are men that do not fear God nor have regard for man like the unjust judge in our anchor text and their end is always disastrous. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the Holy is understanding.” Proverbs 9 :10

Saul was given instruction in 1 Samuel 15 :3; to wipe out the Amalekites, he did not carry out the instruction and instead of waiting for Samuel to perform the sacrifice, he said the people pressured him. Saul sent for Ahimelech the priest and killed the priest of God because he inquired of the Lord for David and gave him Goliath’s sword which the priest did ignorantly. 1 Samuel 22 :11 – 16.

Saul’s servant could not put forth their hands to kill Ahimelech because he is the priest of God. “And the king said unto the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.” 1 Samuel 22 :17.

But King Saul had no regard for the priest of the Lord. In 1 Samuel 22 :18; “And the king said to Doeg, Turn thou, and fall upon the priests. “And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell upon the priests, and slew on that day fours ore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.”

King Saul had no regard for God nor fear for God’s servant. David ran to Samuel’s house in Ramah, Saul sent people there and when they join in prophesying because of the power of God, Saul went there himself, no regard for the man of that poured oil on his head.

Today people talk on social media, discuss, about men of God as if they called them. Romans 14 :4; “Who art thou that judgest another man’s servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.” They are God’s servants not yours, if you fear God, you will regard men of God specially.

PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, help me to have more regard for the anointed.
