Your Reference Point

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE: Eccl. 1-3
TEXT: Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. Isaiah 38 :2-3.
On the day of trouble, what will speak for you? God sent Isaiah to Hezekiah to inform him to put his house in order that he would die. On hearing that Hezekiah did something definite which made God change the verdict against him. See what he did. “Then Hezekiah turned his face toward the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, And said, Remember now, O LORD, I beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore.” Isaiah 38 :2 – 3; God reverse his pronouncement because Hezekiah had a reference point to remind Him how he had served Him.
The Shuanamite woman told her husband, I perceive that this man is a man of God, let us prepare a place for him. The man of God prophesy unto her that she would have a son which she did and one day, the child was attacked and died. It was the bed where the man of God used to stay in her house that was used as her reference point to bring the son back to life. “And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, and laid upon his bed.” 2 Kings 4 :32.
The centurion who asked Jesus to heal his servant. In Luke 7:4-5; had something good said of him. The scribes and Pharisees persuaded Jesus that he built their synagogue for them.” And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.” Luke 7 :4 – 5.
Child of God, what is that thing (service) you are doing for God that will serve as your reference point on the day you will call on him?
PRAYER: My Father! My Father! As I begin to pray, help me to service faithfully in your house.
