Topic: The Care of Your Pastors (3)

Texts: 2 Chronicles 31:4-10; 1 Corinthians 9:11.

Memorise: Let him that is taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in ALL GOOD THINGS. ” Gal. 6:6

God has never misled His people in any dispensation neither has He ever presented Himself as a taskmaster. His teachings and commandments are not grievous. Obedience brings blessings, fulfillment and happiness. Today, we shall examine a few instances where brethren obeyed His words and the attendant blessings.

THE GENEROSITY, SUPPORT AND CARE FOR PAUL BY THE PHILIPPIAN CHURCH: Phil. 4:10-19
The truth of God’s word must be communicated as concepts learned , received and heard. This practice generates streams of blessings. The PHILIPPIAN Church stands distinct and unique as one of the churches that rendered financial and material assistance to Paul without him making any demands but as taught in the word. Apostle Paul on his part expressed with profound indebtedness his joy unspeakable classifying their offer as a ” sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.” It was this generosity that provoked one of the apostolic prayers that is often prayed today ( mostly out of context). In a swift response to this gracious sacrifice, Paul passionately prayed ” But MY GOD shall SUPPLY ALL YOUR NEED according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. Your gift to your Pastor, carries with it a propensity to provoke and ignite prophetic declarations upon your life by your Pastor.

THE CENTRALITY OF GIVING IN THE APOSTOLIC MINISTRY: Acts 4:32-37; 6:1-4.
God strategically positioned around the apostles. Men and women who on daily basis contributed their resources to the growth of the work. The Apostles clearly defined and resigned themselves to the study of the word and prayer. The word prospered and grew beyond leaps and bounds . How precious, comforting and lovely it is when brethren realize without being cajoled or coerced to rise up to their financial responsibilities in the care of their Pastors.

TESTIMONIES ABOUND. Heb. 12:1
In as much as we are under spiritual obligation not to attempt to compare ourselves with others ( 2 Cor. 10:12) ; however, we are under the same spiritual search light to earnestly covet the gifts that will bring blessings to us. Read 1 Cor.12: 28, 31.

Testimonies still abound TODAY in some of our churches where men and women have risen up to the demands of the New Testament church to:-

a) Ensure that their Ministers’ welfare is properly taken care of through their regular provision and not just prayers alone.

b) Make monthly financial supply to their Ministers.

c) Build accommodation for their Ministers

d) Undertake certain monthly bills incurred by the Pastor.

e) Include their Ministers names in their company’s payroll for monthly allowance.

Others have, out of their love, teamed up to sponsor their Ministers abroad on vacation, buy jet for their General Overseer and provide cars as birthday gifts. etc.

These services are still tenable today especially in some Pentecostal churches. It may shock you to hear that some members literally beg to sponsor their Pastors tagging it as a rare privilege and opportunity. Surprisingly, the attempt by Men Ablaze Executive to institute the second Sunday in every October as a National Day to honour and appreciate our Pastors has been greeted with open confrontations, criticism and challenged by members. Ridiculous gifts such as half bag of rice and N850 is what we receive on such a day. It is well.
