TOPIC: A New and Better Covenant
Opening Prayer: Help me dear Lord to meet with you as I meditate on your word in Jesus name

• Is there any promise for me to believe or hope for? • What is God revealing to me in this passage?
Can you think of something which is new but not necessarily better than the old one? Generally, new things are fascinating but may not necessarily be better. The example that comes to mind is factory-fitted (second-hand) spare parts, which most times are more reliable than new ones. But the new covenant of our redemption which was mediated by Jesus Christ is not only new but also better than the old.
Although the old covenant under the Mosaic Law and the Aaronic priesthood was not bad, it was only a shadow of the new (v.5) and it was not perfect (vs.7-9). The new covenant is better than the old because it has better promises (v.6). It is not just an upgraded version of the old but a perfect covenant that cannot be improved upon.
Read vs.10-12 again and identify four promises that make the new covenant better than the old. We are a privileged generation because unlike the old covenant in which people had to rely on others to know God, we have the Holy Spirit, the great Teacher, living in us. Hallelujah!
