Scripture Union Daily Guide 18th April 2021 Sunday Message

Scripture: Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23
Question(s) for Reflection
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
Here is a perfect illustration of the various responses to the message of the kingdom of God. It is clear in this parable that the word of God reaches each one of us but the environment in which it finds us determines its fruitfulness. Lack of an understanding to grow our roots deep in our faith coupled with the cares of this world are part of the bad environments that determine the effect of God’s word in our lives.
As Christians, we have been called not to conform to the standards or the environments of this world but rather to be transformed by renewing our minds and this calls us to seek wisdom and understanding (Proverbs 3:13). It is only when the word of God effectively takes root in us that we will be able to face the pressures that we regularly encounter and become productive as Christians.
As a steward of God’s word, have you been faithful to ensure that your heart is in the right state to receive God’s word and bear fruit for His kingdom? Question: What hindrances to fruitfulness do we need to avoid according to vs.18-23?
