Scripture Union Daily Guide 4th April 2021, Sunday Message

Topic: The Resurrection of Christ

Opening Prayer: May my heart, O Lord, be receptive to your word as I meditate on it.

Scripture: Matthew 28:1-10

Question(s) for Reflection
• What does the passage teach about God the Father, God the Son or God the Holy Spirit?

While others, including the disciples of Christ, were still sleeping, these women came to the tomb, not minding the risk involved (v.1). What lesson in serving God can we learn from them? Vs.2-4 is a record of what happened at Christ’s resurrection. Take note that neither the big stone nor the guards were able to hinder Him from rising from the dead and coming out of the tomb. Jesus rose from the dead just “as He said” (vs.5-7).

The Angel invited the women to inspect the tomb as evidence that Christ is truly risen (v.6). The tomb was empty. Hallelujah! What is the significance of this to our faith (see 1 Corinthians 15:13-22; Romans 6:1-6)? Because Christ has risen from the dead, we also shall rise. Because nothing could hinder Him from coming out of the tomb, nothing shall be able to hinder us from rising to eternal life. Read vs.7-10 again. How does the instruction of the Angel and that of Christ to the women apply to us today (cf. Mark 16:15)?

Practice/Word Application
• What Next? The resurrection of Christ is the Good News that Jesus has accomplished the work of our salvation. Share it with those who are yet to know it?
• Any new insight or reinforcement of what you already know?

Closing Prayer
• Thank you, Father, that I serve a risen and living Saviour. • Thank God for Jesus who by His death on the cross, took away our curse and granted us access into the blessings of Abraham.

Offer a prayer of faith in line with
• Lev. 1-3; Heb. 6
