Topic: Blessings of Moses!
Opening Prayer: Dear Lord, make me more like you through the power of your word as I meditate on it.

• Is there any example for me to follow or not to follow?
Moses has become a father to all Israel. With God’s help, he delivered them from the slavery of Egypt and thereby gave birth to the nation. He was their shepherd for forty years through the wilderness and now hands them over to the Lord as they enter the Promised Land. Like Jacob before him, he gave his final blessings to each of the twelve tribes of Israel. It will be useful to compare these blessings with Jacob’s in Genesis 49:3-26.
Notice the curse placed on Reuben by Jacob (Gen. 49: 3 – 4) and how Moses reversed it in Deut. 33: 6. Compare the blessings (or are they curses) pronounced on Levi in Genesis 49:5-7 with those of Moses (vs.8-11). “Scattered …. and dispersed in Israel” indeed but this became, not a curse, but a blessing for the Levites. They are scattered to perform some critical roles for the nation – to represent God and discern his will (using the Thummim and Urim).
See vs.10-11a for others. What brought about this change? See v.9 and read the full story in Exodus 32:26-29. We too can overturn our disadvantages if we would stand firmly on the Lord’s side, if we would dare to be Daniels in our corrupt-ridden society. Today, the title, “man of God” (MOG), is flaunted around loosely and sometimes very shamefully.
Moses, the true MOG, sets us a challenging example. To the very end of his life, his mind was focused on God and he dedicated himself to serving his people
