• What is God revealing to me in this passage?
Message: Moses seriously urged the Israelites to, “take to heart all the words I have solemnly declared to you this day” (v.46)? Why does Moses, as he approaches the end of his own life, use such serious words here, emphasizing the need for careful obedience to God’s Word? How does this challenge your personal attitude to God’s Word and the general view of people to the Bible?
Just today, someone sent this message to my Engineering group WhatsApp platform, “the Bible has been preaching the wrong thing about marriage”. How wrong! How do we avoid such unfortunate deception in life? See the warning God gives to the nation in vs.34-35 if they (and we) fail to keep God’s Word to heart. This second part of God song gives us these deep insights into how to be wise
1. Discern what the end will be (v.29).
2. Beware of counterfeit rocks instead of the Rock (v.31), vines instead of the Vine (v.32; John 15:1,5) and poisonous grapes (v.33).
3. Hope that the “Lord will vindicate His people” (v.36). What does v. 39 teach you about God?
Do the songs we sing today help us reflect on these critical issues of life? The ending to this passage clarifies two questions people normally ask about Moses – did he die physically (v.50)? Why did God not allow Moses and Aaron to enter the Promised Land (v.51)?
