TOPIC: The Great Deception

TEXT: Revelation 20:7-10(NKJV)
7. Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison

8. and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number [is] as the sand of the sea.

9. They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.

10. The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet [are.] And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

STUDY: At the end of the millennium reign of believers, we see a dramatic appearance of Satan on earth again. Even though Satan has been bound in the pit for 1000 years, he has not lost any of his cunning ways. He knows that evil nature, whether confined in a prison or subject to righteous rules, does not change (Rom.8:7-8) and having been loosed, Satan goes on to deceive the nations, leading them into a battle against God.

This has been Satan’s trick all along. This reaction shows that he will never repent; it also shows that humans are poised to rebel against God no matter how long or how many chances they are given to repent. Satan is still in the business of deceiving men and women and luring them to their destruction. He is the father of lies and deception right from the time of Adam and Eve. He is a rebel against God. We must therefore know that the devil’s purpose in the life of any man is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). We must flee from Satan’s plots and cling to Jesus, come what may.

PRAYER: Father please help me to be sensitive and vigilant to the antics of the enemy and help me never to give in to his deception.
