Reflection
• What is God revealing to me in this passage?

Message: This passage may be divided into two parts, the visit of the Queen of Sheba, and the catalogue of the wealth of King Solomon. Read vv.3–5 and find out what particularly amazed the queen. The wisdom and the prosperity of Solomon were overwhelming. Carefully read the concluding remarks of the queen of Sheba in v.9.
All the wisdom and prosperity that God gives us are to draw the attention of the people around us to God and his goodness, and to his Son, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It is with the expectation that perhaps people will commit their lives to Christ Jesus and be saved. From vv.14–29, try to imagine the volume of King Solomon’s wealth.
God fulfilled his promises in his life. It is worth noting however, that good leaders do not just amass wealth for themselves but pursue the happiness of their people. They also ensure that as many as possible contribute and benefit from the wealth of the nation. It is sad to note that in many developing countries especially, the gap between the rich and the poor is getting wider. Many are getting unhappy and dissatisfied. Sad indeed.

• Meditate: Check 1 Corinthians 1:30 and note that Christ Jesus is our wisdom from God.

• Thank God for this truth and pray and seek to be filled with Christ each moment of your life.
• Pray against the syndrome of sit–tight leadership in some countries.
• Offer a prayer of faith in line with John 14:27
