BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” – Proverbs 9:10
True wisdom begins with God.
In Proverbs 9:10, Solomon teaches that “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” The fear of the Lord is not a fear of punishment for those who belong to Christ. Rather, it is a deep reverence, awe, and respect for God’s holiness, authority, and majesty. It is a heart that loves Him, trusts Him, and desires to obey His Word.
Many people seek knowledge, but wisdom is more than information.
Wisdom is the ability to live according to God’s truth.
It is making decisions that honor Him.
It is choosing righteousness over sin, truth over deception, and obedience over compromise.
The second part of the verse says, “Knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
The more we know God through His Word, prayer, and fellowship with Him, the more we grow in spiritual understanding. We begin to see life from His perspective and recognize His hand at work in every season.
A heart that fears the Lord will seek His guidance before making decisions.
It will reject pride and embrace humility.
It will pursue holiness instead of worldly pleasures.
It will trust God’s wisdom even when His ways are difficult to understand.
Today, make it your desire to know God more deeply. Spend time in His presence, meditate on His Word, and allow His truth to shape your thoughts and actions.
When your life is rooted in reverence for the Lord, He will lead you in wisdom, strengthen your faith, and guide your steps according to His perfect will.
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for being the source of all wisdom and understanding. Thank You for revealing Yourself through Your Word and inviting me into a deeper relationship with You.
Lord, give me a heart that reveres You above all else. Help me to honor You in my thoughts, words, and actions, and teach me to walk in obedience to Your will.
Fill me with Your wisdom as I face the decisions of each day. Guard me from pride, self-reliance, and foolishness, and help me to depend completely on Your guidance.
Draw me closer to You so that I may know You more intimately and understand Your ways more clearly. Let my life reflect Your holiness, Your truth, and Your love.
Thank You for faithfully leading all who seek You with humble hearts.
