TOPIC: POWER TO FINISH WELL AND FINISH STRONG (I)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 120-121; 2 Thessalonians 2-3

MEMORY VERSE: Proverbs 16:3: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE: A life that started well can be tarnished by the failure to end well, especially where God is ignored.

PROPHETIC WORD FOR TODAY: In your life pursuit, may you never forget God, in the name of Jesus.

FIRE SCRIPTURE: 2 Chronicles 26:15-21(NIV)

15 In Jerusalem he made devices invented for use on the towers and on the corner defenses so that soldiers could shoot arrows and hurl large stones from the walls. His fame spread far and wide, for he was greatly helped until he became powerful.

16 But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense. 17 Azariah the priest with eighty other courageous priests of the Lord followed him in. 18 They confronted King Uzziah and said, “It is not right for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord. That is for the priests, the descendants of Aaron, who have been consecrated to burn incense. Leave the sanctuary, for you have been unfaithful; and you will not be honored by the Lord God.”

19 Uzziah, who had a censer in his hand ready to burn incense, became angry. While he was raging at the priests in their presence before the incense altar in the Lord’s temple, leprosy[a] broke out on his forehead. 20 When Azariah the chief priest and all the other priests looked at him, they saw that he had leprosy on his forehead, so they hurried him out. Indeed, he himself was eager to leave, because the Lord had afflicted him.

21 King Uzziah had leprosy until the day he died. He lived in a separate house[b]—leprous, and banned from the temple of the Lord. Jotham his son had charge of the palace and governed the people of the land.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

MFM Daily Devotional, July 19, 2026 – MESSAGE

Everyone who runs a race desires to finish well and finish strong. Unfortunately, some people finish poorly as a result of ignorance, carelessness, self-exaltation, pride, or over-confidence, especially when the individual forgets God and the undeniable fact that He alone gives you the power to become who you are or what you desire to become. The Bible says that without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:4-5). Trusting in your own intellect and potential is nothing but foolishness. If God did not give you life in the first place, you would have absolutely no power to exist, nor to achieve anything in life. Anyone who pushes God aside is ignoring the Source of life and all successful achievements.

This was the great error that King Uzziah made in today’s Fire Scripture. He started well in life. The Bible says he “sought the Lord.” Consequently, he succeeded with great and outstanding accomplishments, but he suddenly forgot God. His heart was lifted and he forgot that without God, he couldn’t have done or achieved so much. His pride marked the beginning of his downfall. The height of it was when he attempted to burn incense on the altar, which was the work of the priest. He became a leper as a result of this act. He became an object of disgrace and humiliation in the same land where he had prospered earlier on. This is a great lesson for anyone who dares to disobey the Almighty.

No one should ever see himself or herself as self-sufficient. The day anyone chooses not to acknowledge God as their major Source of life, their downfall becomes imminent. Therefore, I beseech you, endeavour to put God first in all you do according to Matthew 6:33. God is the Master Planner who never fails. He shows the way and leads us by Himself (Psalm 32:8). He makes our plans to come into fruitful execution when we commit it all into His hands. Even the soldier should not trust in the size of his armour or strength of his horse. It is God who gives victory.

PRAYER POINTS

2. O Lord, deliver me from every form of pride and self-exaltation, in the name of Jesus.
3. Father, let me not fall into error that will cause me to finish poorly, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING
4. Wicked powers assigned to hinder me from running with God to the end, die, in the name of Jesus.

6. I will not shift my gaze from the Lord Jesus, in the name of Jesus.
