Daily Fountain Devotional 15 July 2026 TOPIC: The Call To Justice And Compassion
SCRIPTURE READING: Micah 3:1-4(NIV)
1 Then I said,
“Listen, you leaders of Jacob,
you rulers of Israel.
Should you not embrace justice,
2 you who hate good and love evil;
who tear the skin from my people
and the flesh from their bones;
3 who eat my people’s flesh,
strip off their skin
and break their bones in pieces;
who chop them up like meat for the pan,
like flesh for the pot?”
4 Then they will cry out to the Lord,
but he will not answer them.
At that time he will hide his face from them
because of the evil they have done.
TODAY’S DEVOTIONAL MESSAGE
Today’s passage is a reminder for Christians to reflect God’s justice and compassion in all areas of life. Micah 3:1-4 presents a strong accusation against the leaders of Israel, who were meant to guide the people with justice but instead oppressed and exploited them. In this scripture, God condemns these rulers for their lack of compassion, describing their actions as cruel. This clear imagery highlights the seriousness of their injustice and disregard for their responsibilities before God.
As the prophet Amos similarly declares, “Hate evil, love good; establish justice in the gate” (Amos 5:15), God’s standard for leadership requires integrity and care for the defenseless. The passage warns that because of their injustice, these leaders would cry out to God, but He would not answer – a consequence of their own hardened hearts and rejection of His ways.
Just as Israel’s leaders were called to care for others, Christians are called to use their influence, big or small, to uplift rather than oppress. Jesus taught, “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy” (Matt. 5:7), urging us to lead with kindness and integrity. Whether in family, work, or community, believers should be known for their honesty and fairness, treating others as God would. This commitment to justice and compassion reflects God’s heart and draws others towards His love.
PRAYER FOR TODAY: Lord, help me to lead with justice and compassion, showing your love to everyone I encounter. Amen!
