Scripture Union Daily Guide 14 July 2026 – Outline

Jesus’ value system in today’s passage obviously challenges ours! Look at the measure the Lord used to place a greater value on the two small copper coins dropped by the poor widow and the gifts of the rich (Luke 21:1-4)? The Lord pays keen attention to what we offer but more especially the spirit behind our giving. What we give and how we give should reflect how much we value the great work of our redemption. The disciples admired the beauty of the temple adornment, and the gifts dedicated to God in it but notice Jesus’ response (Luke 21:5-6)!

Our kingdom investments should be more in soul winning and building of people’s lives than in physical buildings and adornment which will soon fade or be utterly destroyed. Read Luke 21:8-11 for the signs stated by the Master in response to the disciples’ question in Luke 21:7. The Lord was clear about the world’s hatred against Christ-like living on earth.

True believers in Christ who are determined to follow Him will face all forms of persecutions including physical and emotional torture from wicked people and even family members, unlawful detention, imprisonment and even death (Luke 21:12-17; 2 Timothy 3:12)! But see Christ Jesus’ assurance in Luke 21:18-19!

And So:
Let’s take every maltreatment for the sake of Christ as opportunity for witnessing.

Closing Prayer
Lord, help me to constantly align my value system with yours.

Bible Reading Plan
Micah 1-7
