BIBLE VERSE FOR TODAY: “When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see Him. From what he had heard about Him, he hoped to see Him perform a sign of some sort.” – Luke 23:8
Many people are interested in Jesus, but not everyone truly seeks Him.
Luke 23:8 tells us that Herod was excited to see Jesus because he wanted to witness a miracle. He had heard many reports about Him and hoped to be entertained by a spectacular sign. Yet his interest was driven by curiosity rather than repentance or a desire to know the truth.
This passage invites us to examine our own hearts.
Why do we seek Jesus?
Do we come to Him only when we need a miracle, or do we desire a genuine relationship with Him? Do we pursue His hand for blessings alone, or do we long for His heart and His presence?
God is not looking for casual observers. He desires devoted followers whose faith is rooted in love, trust, and obedience.
Jesus performed many miracles during His earthly ministry, but His greatest mission was to reconcile people to God. He came to forgive sins, transform hearts, and offer eternal life to all who believe in Him.
When we seek Him sincerely, we discover that His presence is greater than any temporary sign or wonder. We find peace that surpasses understanding, wisdom for daily living, and a relationship that satisfies the deepest needs of the soul.
Let your pursuit of Christ go beyond curiosity. Seek Him through prayer, worship, and His Word. Draw near to Him with humility, and allow Him to shape your life according to His purpose.
The greatest miracle is not simply seeing what Jesus can do—it is being transformed by who He is.
Let’s Pray:
Heavenly Father, thank You for revealing Yourself through Jesus Christ. Help me to seek You with a sincere and wholehearted faith, not merely for what You can give me but because You alone are worthy of my devotion.
Search my heart and remove any shallow motives or distractions that keep me from knowing You more deeply. Give me a hunger for Your presence and a desire to follow Your will.
Lord, strengthen my faith so that it rests on Your truth and not only on what I can see. Draw me closer to You each day and transform my life by Your grace.
Thank You for loving me, guiding me, and inviting me into a relationship with You.
