Luke 11:10 (KJV) “For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
Daily Devotional Message
One of the greatest encouragements Jesus gives concerning prayer is found in Luke 11:10: “For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.”
These words reveal God’s heart toward those who earnestly seek Him.
Jesus presents three actions: asking, seeking, and knocking.
Each action reflects increasing levels of persistence and expectation.
To ask is to bring our requests before God.
To seek is to pursue Him with intention and faith.
To knock is to persevere until the door opens.
Together, these actions teach believers not to give up in prayer.
Many people become discouraged when answers do not come immediately.
They pray once or twice and then conclude that God is not listening.
But Jesus encourages persistence.
He wants His followers to understand that prayer is not merely about presenting a request; it is about developing a relationship with the Father.
Persistent prayer strengthens our faith.
It teaches us dependence on God rather than reliance on ourselves.
It helps us trust God’s timing even when we cannot see what He is doing behind the scenes.
The promise in this verse is remarkable.
Jesus says that everyone who asks receives, everyone who seeks finds, and everyone who knocks will have the door opened.
This does not mean God grants every request exactly as we imagine.
Rather, it means God faithfully responds according to His wisdom, love, and perfect will.
Sometimes the answer is yes.
Sometimes the answer is wait.
Sometimes the answer is no because He has something better prepared.
But God always responds to sincere prayer.
The life of faith requires perseverance.
Many of the great men and women of Scripture received answers after seasons of waiting.
Abraham waited years for the promised son.
Hannah prayed persistently for a child.
Daniel sought God faithfully despite opposition.
Their stories remind us that delay is not denial.
God is often working in ways we cannot yet see.
Perhaps today you have been praying about a situation that seems unchanged.
You may be praying for a breakthrough, healing, restoration, provision, or direction.
Do not lose heart.
Continue asking.
Continue seeking.
Continue knocking.
The God who hears your prayers has not forgotten you.
His timing is perfect, and His promises are sure.
Every prayer offered in faith reaches His throne.
Every tear is seen.
Every cry of the heart is heard.
Jesus invites you today to approach God with confidence, persistence, and expectation.
Keep praying.
Keep believing.
Keep trusting.
The door that God intends to open will open at the appointed time.
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the privilege of prayer and for inviting me to come boldly into Your presence. Thank You for hearing every prayer and caring about every concern in my life.
Lord, strengthen my faith when answers seem delayed. Help me to continue asking, seeking, and knocking with confidence in Your goodness and love.
Teach me to trust Your timing and Your wisdom. When I grow weary, remind me that You are working even when I cannot see it.
Give me perseverance in prayer and a heart that continually seeks You above all else.
Thank You for Your faithfulness and for every promise found in Your Word. I place my needs, desires, and concerns into Your hands today.
Help me to wait with hope, pray with faith, and trust You completely.
