MFM Devotional 11 May 2026 | MESSAGE
King Nebuchadnezzar was one of the most powerful rulers of the ancient world. He had a vast kingdom. After having a dream about a great tree that was cut down, he received an interpretation from the prophet, Daniel. The interpretation revealed that Nebuchadnezzar’s pride would lead him to a place where God would humble him, causing him to lose his mind and live as a wild animal for seven years.
But before this, King Nebuchadnezzar, in his pride, boasted about his greatness, claiming that his power and kingdom were the result of his might and wisdom. He failed to acknowledge that it was God who gave him the power. God humbled him by causing him to lose his sanity for a period of time, during
which he lived like an animal.
Nebuchadnezzar’s arrogance in taking credit for God’s blessings was a dangerous move. His temporary insanity was a humbling experience, leading him to finally recognise that God alone is sovereign over all powers. Before the judgement of God came upon him, he boasted of his achievements, saying, “Is not this great Babylon that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honour of my majesty?” (Daniel 4:30). What arrogance! His failure to recognise God as the ultimate source of his power and success led to God’s anger and instant judgement. The opulence and grandeur of his kingdom got into his head, and the forgot that there is a supreme being that created him.
Beloved, no matter who you are and what you have, as long as you were created, you must give the praise and glory to the One who created you – The Almighty God. King Nebuchadnezzar’s temporary insanity was a humbling experience that made him finally acknowledge God’s supreme authority.
