Life can sometimes bring moments that test the heart deeply. Delays, disappointments, pain, and uncertainty can make it difficult to stay hopeful. There are seasons when everything around you seems to whisper discouragement.
David understood this feeling well. Yet in the middle of his struggles, he made a powerful declaration: “I would have despaired unless I had believed…”
His hope was not rooted in circumstances—it was rooted in God’s goodness.
This verse reminds us that faith is often what keeps us from falling into despair. When situations become difficult, believing in God’s goodness gives the heart strength to continue.
David did not say he might see God’s goodness. He said he believed he would see it.
That kind of confidence changes everything.
Sometimes, when we go through hard seasons, we begin to wonder if God is still working. But Psalm 27:13 reminds us that God’s goodness is not limited to heaven alone—it can be experienced “in the land of the living.” Right here. Right now. In the middle of ordinary life.
God’s goodness appears in many ways:
In the strength He gives to keep going.
In the peace He provides during uncertainty.
In the doors He opens at the right time.
In the love and mercy He pours out daily.
Even when you cannot fully see it yet, His goodness is still moving toward you.
So today, refuse to give in to despair. Hold tightly to faith. Believe that God is still good, still faithful, and still working on your behalf.
Because hope grows where trust in God remains alive.
And you will see His goodness.
Let’s Pray:
Lord God, thank You for being good and faithful in every season of my life. When discouragement tries to overwhelm me, help me to hold on to hope.
Strengthen my heart to believe that I will see Your goodness, even in difficult times. Remove despair, fear, and doubt from my mind.
Lord, open my eyes to recognize Your hand at work around me each day. Help me to trust You when I cannot yet see the full picture.
Fill me with peace, confidence, and renewed faith in Your promises.
Thank You because Your goodness never fails and Your love never leaves me.
