Joel Osteen Daily Devotional 9 May 2026 TOPIC: Ignore Insults
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Fools quickly show that they are upset, but the wise ignore insults.
Proverbs 12:16, NCV
TODAY’S WORD
Are you letting things upset you that don’t have to upset you? Difficult people who are offensive and rude are all around. Some will say things about you that are not true or hurl insults just to get you upset. They may not want to be happy, but don’t let them keep you from being happy. They may be disrespectful or angry, but don’t let their issues sour your day. You can’t control what difficult people do, but you can control how you respond.
You have to make up your mind that you’re not going to let them push your buttons, offend you, and upset you. Rather than take the bait of an insult, the most powerful thing you can do is to ignore it. Don’t keep thinking about it, don’t relive it, don’t call your friends and tell them what they said. Keep your heart pure. Save your emotional energy to live the day to the full, to pursue your dreams, to love your family, to be good to your coworkers. Tune out all the negatives and run your race with purpose.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that You are always greater than any difficulty I will ever face. Give me the wisdom to ignore anything that is just an insignificant insult or an argumentative distraction to get me off track. I’m going to tune out the offenses and run my race with purpose. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
