TODAY’S WORD
In the Scripture, even though God said that Job was a “blameless and upright man,” almost overnight he suffered great personal losses. Things got so bad that his wife told him to just curse God and die. His friends, supposedly his comforters, said the tragedy was all his fault. Surely, they said, he sinned and was getting what he deserved. In times of difficulties, be careful who you listen to. Don’t give your ear to just anyone. Some people don’t have your best interest at heart. They’ll judge and condemn you, try to straighten you out, tell you everything you’ve done wrong. You need to be around people who speak faith into you. You need people who tell you that you’re coming out, that healing is on the way, that God has beauty for the ashes. And even if the difficulty is your fault, you need people who tell you that God’s mercy is bigger than any mistake, that His arms are still wide open. Tune out all the accusing, condemning voices and listen to those whose hearts are like the God who is calling you.
Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for the people in my life who inspire me, challenge me, and make me better. Help me to be wise about who I listen to and the counsel and opinions I receive. Help me to distance myself from anyone whose influence is condemning. I want to walk with the right people. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
