📖 Bible Verse for Today
Hebrews 1:2–3 (NIV)
“But in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son… The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word…”
Daily Devotional Message
Today’s daily devotional lifts our focus to the greatness and supremacy of Jesus Christ. Hebrews 1:2–3 gives us a powerful description of who Jesus truly is—not just a teacher, not just a prophet, but the very expression of God Himself.
The passage begins by reminding us that God has spoken through His Son. In earlier times, God communicated through prophets and various means, but now He has revealed Himself fully through Jesus. This means that when we look at Jesus, we are seeing the heart, character, and nature of God.
The verse goes on to say that Jesus is “the radiance of God’s glory.” Radiance is the visible expression of something that is otherwise unseen. Just as light radiates from the sun, Jesus reveals God’s glory to us. Through Him, we can understand who God is—His love, His power, His mercy, and His truth.
It also says that Jesus is the “exact representation of his being.” This means that Jesus perfectly reflects God. There is no difference between the nature of God and the nature of Christ. When Jesus spoke, healed, forgave, and loved, He was showing us exactly what God is like.
This is important because it removes confusion about who God is. If you want to know God, look at Jesus.
Another powerful truth in this passage is that Jesus is “sustaining all things by his powerful word.” This means that everything in existence is held together by Him. The world is not running on its own—God is actively sustaining it.
Think about that for a moment.
The same Jesus who walked on earth, who healed the sick and calmed the storm, is also the One holding the universe together. And yet, He is also personally involved in your life.
If He can sustain the universe, He can certainly sustain you.
This truth brings comfort and assurance. When life feels unstable, when situations seem uncertain, you can trust that God is in control. Nothing is outside His power or awareness.
The passage also reminds us that after Jesus provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of God. This signifies that His work of salvation is complete. There is nothing more that needs to be added. Through Christ, we have full access to God.
This means you don’t have to strive to earn God’s approval. Through Jesus, you are already accepted, forgiven, and loved.
However, understanding who Jesus is should also lead to a response. When we recognize His greatness, His authority, and His role in our lives, it should move us to worship, trust, and obedience.
Sometimes, we can make Jesus small in our minds—limiting Him to a part of our lives instead of recognizing His authority over all things. But this passage reminds us that He is not just part of your life—He is over everything.
Today, take time to reflect on who Jesus is. Let your perspective expand. Let your faith grow. Let your trust deepen.
If He is truly the radiance of God’s glory and the sustainer of all things, then you can confidently place your life in His hands.
No matter what you are facing, Jesus is greater.
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for revealing Yourself through Jesus Christ. Thank You that He is the radiance of Your glory and the exact representation of who You are.
Help me to see Jesus more clearly and to understand His greatness. Strengthen my faith and teach me to trust Him fully in every area of my life.
Lord, remind me that You are sustaining all things, including my life. When I feel uncertain or overwhelmed, help me to rest in Your power and control.
Thank You for the finished work of Christ and for the forgiveness and grace I have received. Help me to live in a way that honors You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection for Today
Do you truly see Jesus as Lord over every area of your life, or have you limited Him to only certain parts?
