MFM Devotional 1st April 2026 MESSAGE
In the Old Testament, the Gospels and the New Testament, the Bible emphasizes that we seek out the poor and socially vulnerable and take care of them. In Deuteronomy 15: 11 (our memory verse), God affirms that there will always be poor people in the land and commanded that we be openhanded towards them. God defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow, and loves the alien, giving him food and clothing (Deuteronomy 10:18). God is loving and compassionate, and remembering the poor reflects these nature and character of His.
One of the hallmarks of mature and heaven-bound Christians is their attitude towards the commandments or instructions of God. They obey God completely. Beloved, what is your attitude towards the poor, the needy, and socially vulnerable like widows and orphans today? If it has not been right, I advise that you do attitude adjustment and begin to take care of the poor from now. Obedience to God’s command always yields huge dividend.
Showing love and care to the poor and needy will help us to achieve the following: (1) Reflect God’s love. As believers, when God blesses us, He wants us to always remember those who are in need and extend His love to them by providing for their needs (2) Demonstrate faith in action. God wants us to take practical steps to meet the needs of others.
Someone said that love is a verb. It should be demonstrated by practically taking away the need or pain and wiping the tears of the socially vulnerable (3) Build stronger, happier and more harmonious society. Remembering the poor is in line with the biblical principle of social justice. It will help to promote peaceful co-existence and orderliness in the society as well as a stronger nation (4) Share the hope of Christ. Taking care of the poor enhances the success of soul winning and solution evangelism. The hopeless, helpless and phenomenal growth at that time. forgotten will suddenly feel loved and be won to Christ. The early church gave priority to taking care of the needy, poor, orphans and widows. This must have contributed to its
