Scripture Union Daily Guide 5 March 2026 | OUTLINE
Jeremiah’s message in previous chapters had been very gloomy and threatening. But Jeremiah 30-33 highlight the precious promises of hope and a return from captivity. This is a picture of the glorious future reserved for the Church in the days of the Messiah. The main idea of these chapters is that Israel as a nation will not perish and an assurance that no matter what the Church may be going through currently, it can never be destroyed (Matthew 16:18).
The prophet confirmed that terrible times would come (Jeremiah 30:6-7; Matthew 24:21), but the people of God were assured of restoration (Jeremiah 30:8-11). Israel and Judah would be scattered and go to exile because of their sins (Jeremiah 30:11-15), but they would be gathered again as one people. Read Jeremiah 30:16-22 again and note God’s promises for His people.
“Their leader,” in Jeremiah 30:21 (NIV), is a reference to Jesus, the Christ. He is the one who, at His second coming, will put an end to all persecution and suffering of God’s people, and ultimately, restore all things to perfect harmony with God (Matthew 24:30-31; Revelation 20:4-6).
