38Â And he arose out of the synagogue, and entered into Simon’s house. And Simon’s wife’s mother was taken with a great fever; and they besought him for her.
39Â And he stood over her, and rebuked the fever; and it left her: and immediately she arose and ministered unto them.
40Â Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases brought them unto him; and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them.
41Â And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.
42Â And when it was day, he departed and went into a desert place: and the people sought him, and came unto him, and stayed him, that he should not depart from them.
43Â And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.
44Â And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.
TODAY’S MESSAGE:
On entering into Simon Peter’s house, Jesus was told that Peter’s mother in-law was sick. He went to her and rebuked the fever and she became healed and began to serve them. In the evening, many sick people were brought to Jesus and He healed them all. The evil spirits that came out of some people identified Jesus as the Christ and He rebuked and stopped them from speaking about Him. Jesus later departed to a solitary place but the crowd came and tried to prevent Him from leaving. He told them that He had to go to other cities and so was found preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.
As part of His purpose, Jesus was always willing to heal the sick and to preach the kingdom of God to people. Preaching the gospel and healing the sick should be the hallmark of Christians, whether they are Priests, Pastors, Evangelists, or ordinary believers. Christians should follow in His steps when they preach the gospel by laying on of hands and praying for the sick. The power of God will heal the sick and the people will be drawn to Christ. Do you believe in divine healing? Then lay hands on the sick when you meet them.
PRAYER: Lord, grant me the grace to lay hands on the sick andheal them in Jesus’Name. Amen.
