This verse is a powerful reminder that all our abilities, resources, and opportunities come from God. Moses warns Israel not to forget the Lord when they enter the Promised Land and begin to enjoy prosperity. It is easy to think that success is the result of our own strength, wisdom, or effort. Yet Scripture makes it clear: God is the true source of every blessing.
The ability to produce wealth, to work, to create, and to thrive is a gift from Him. Our talents, skills, and even the breath in our lungs are sustained by His grace. When we acknowledge this truth, it keeps us humble and dependent on Him, rather than prideful or self-reliant.
This verse also connects prosperity to God’s covenant. His blessings are not random; they are part of His faithful promises to His people. Remembering the Lord means living with gratitude, stewardship, and obedience. It means using what He has given us not only for our own benefit but to honor Him and bless others.
The challenge for us today is the same as it was for Israel: to never forget the Source. Whether in abundance or in need, we must continually recognize that everything we have comes from the Lord, and our ultimate security lies in Him alone.
Let’s Pray
Gracious Father, I thank You for reminding me that every good thing I have comes from You. My abilities, my opportunities, and my resources are not my own—they are gifts from Your hand. Lord, help me to never forget You in times of abundance, and to always acknowledge You as the Source of my strength and provision.
Teach me to use the blessings You have entrusted to me with wisdom and humility. Guard my heart against pride and self-reliance, and keep me mindful that all I have is for Your glory. May I honor You with my work, my finances, and my life, remembering that You are the One who sustains me.
Thank You for Your covenant faithfulness and for confirming Your promises in my life. I choose to trust You as my Provider and to walk in gratitude and obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
