Choosing Truth as the Foundation of Love

Bible Reading:
“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” – 1 Corinthians 13:6

Love is often described by how it feels, but Scripture reveals that true love is better measured by how it responds to truth. In a world where compromise is easily justified and wrong is sometimes celebrated, this verse calls us back to a higher standard of love—one rooted in truth and righteousness.

1 Corinthians 13:6 reminds us that genuine love does not find pleasure in wrongdoing. It does not excuse sin, ignore injustice, or take satisfaction in another person’s failure. Instead, true love grieves over what is wrong and finds joy in what is right. It aligns itself with God’s truth, even when that truth is uncomfortable or costly.

This kind of love requires maturity. It means loving others enough to desire what is best for them, not what is easiest or most convenient. It means standing for truth with grace, correcting with compassion, and choosing integrity over applause. Love that rejoices in truth is not harsh or self-righteous; it is sincere, humble, and anchored in God’s character.

Rejoicing in the truth also means celebrating honesty, faithfulness, and righteousness wherever they are found. It means allowing God’s Word to shape our values and guide our actions. When love and truth walk together, relationships are strengthened, trust is built, and God is honored.

As believers, we are called to reflect this kind of love in our daily lives. A love that does not turn a blind eye to evil, but one that joyfully embraces God’s truth and lives it out. This love shines as a testimony of Christ in a world searching for what real love looks like.

So today, let us examine our hearts. Are we delighting in what God delights in? Are we rejoicing in His truth? May our love be pure, honest, and firmly grounded in the truth that comes from Him alone.

Let’s Pray:

Lord God, thank You for showing us what true love really is. Teach me to love in a way that honors You—one that does not delight in evil but rejoices in Your truth.

Help my heart remain sensitive to what pleases You. Give me wisdom to walk in truth, courage to stand for what is right, and grace to love others sincerely. May my life reflect Your love in both word and action.
