What a horrible thing for one to die and not to be mourned by his loved ones. It is even more horrible for a king to die and not to be mourned and not given a state burial with national flag flown at half-mast. What would be done to the king’s dead body (Jeremiah 22:19)?

The king will be carried away captive with his people shattered because of God’s judgment on his wicked leadership. Notice the consequences of their disobedience to God’s word (Jeremiah 22:21-23). No matter our status or position in life, if we ignore or refuse to obey God’s word, we will incur His displeasure and punishment. In fact, rebelling against God’s word opens the door to the attack of our enemies leading to a devastating bondage.

All these terrible things happened to the king because of his pride. Indeed, pride is destructive, and God hates it terribly (Proverbs 16:18 & Proverbs 8:13 NIV); we need to do away with it to attract His blessings and honour.

King Jehoiachin idolized himself but he was consequently despised and no pleasure was found in him. Notice other awful pronouncements against him in Jeremiah 22:24-26,30. Indeed, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God (Hebrews 10:31).

And So
Pride is a cankerworm that can destroy an individual, community, nation or institution. Pray against every haughty spirit in your life.

•The Zonal and Group elections.
•Healing of sick brethren, and answers to all prayers.
•Newly elected and appointed leaders in all the formations of the Region, that they will bear abiding fruits in their tenure.
