Joel Osteen Daily Devotional 18th January 2026 TOPIC: Guard Your Identity
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
John 8:44, NIV
TODAY’S WORD
We live in a time when there’s more deception than ever. Americans lost $30 billion in scams in 2022. Every day on our phones, emails, and social media, professional schemers are working to deceive us into giving them our personal information. There are financial scams, relationship scams, and property scams.
Today’s biggest scammer is Satan, the father of lies. When we get scammed by people, it can cost us money and time and cause stress. But if we let the enemy scam us, it can cost us our identity. He knows you are a child of the Most High God, fearfully and wonderfully made. He sees your crown of favor and robe of righteousness. He works to deceive you into believing lies. He’ll whisper, “You’re not valuable. You’re not attractive. God doesn’t care about you. You’ve made too many mistakes. Look at all your flaws and weaknesses.” If you believe those lies, he’ll talk you out of who you are. He’ll steal your identity. Keep a guard over your mind. If you keep it filled with faith, hope, and truth, you shut the thief out.
PRAYER FOR TODAY
“Father, thank You that I can guard my heart and keep it free from all the lies and distortions that try to steal my identity. Help me to recognize the enemy’s tactics to take all that You have given me. I declare that I will keep the door shut to the lies and believe the truth of Your Word. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
