BIBLE TEXTS: NEHEMIAH 8:10. 1 PETER 1:1-9, JOHN 16:31-33
Nehemiah 8:10
[10]Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
1 Peter 1:1-9
[1]Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
[2]Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
[3]Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
[4]To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
[5]Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
[6]Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
[7]That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
[8]Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
[9]Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
John 16:31-33
[31]Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
[32]Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
[33]These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
MEMORY VERSE: 1 Peter 1:8 “Whom having not seen, ye love: in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:”

INTRODUCTION: Do you know you can have joy beyond all circumstances? It is Joy so profound and intense that it surpasses the ability of words that fully describe it. It is a feeling of deep, overwhelming happiness and delight, often associated with spiritual experiences. This joy is not just a temporary feeling, it’s a lasting. transformative experience that can be deeply personal and subjective. Today, we want to focus our attention on Peter’s remarks in 1 Peter 1:6-9 concerning this “unspeakable joy”

A. THE BASIS FOR UNSPEAKABLE JOY.
1. We have been “set apart” by the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. V2
2. We have been “sprinkled” with the blood of Jesus Christ. V2
3. We have been “born again” to a living hope. v3
4. We are God’s “elect” or chosen. v2

B. EXPERIENCING DEEP, LASTING JOY THROUGH WORSHIP
1. Worship connects us 5o God’s presence, where true joy is found (Psalm 16:11)
2. This joy is not based on what’s happening around us, but on who God 1s. (John 15:11)
3. Worship lifts our perspective and reminds us of God’s love, faithfulness and power(1 Peter 1:8-9)
4. Joy strengthens us during trials and gives us hope (Nehemiah 8:10)
5. We can worship in many ways: singing, praying, serving, obeying (Philippians 4:4)
CONCLUSION: All these blessings serve as the basis for unspeakable joy. Because of them, we can “greatly rejoice! Exactly how great is this joy? God’s presence is the fullness of Joy (Psalm 16:11)
CLASS DISCUSSION:
1. What does “joy unspeakable” mean to you?
2. Can you think of a time when worship helped you feel joy even in a hard moment?
3. What are different ways you can worship God besides singing?
4. Why is worship connected to joy?
5. How can you make worship a regular part of your life?
LIFE APPLICATION:
1. Gratitude Journal: Start a daily worship journal where you write one way God has blessed you and one song or verse that brings you joy.
2. Worship Playlist: Create a playlist of worship songs that lift your spirit and help you focus on God’s presence.
3. Joy Challenge: Each day for a week, do something worshipful that brings you or others joy sing, serve, share a verse, or pray for someone.
