Scripture Union Daily Guide – 24 November 2025 | OUTLINE
Salvation is by grace through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, but it requires our response in obedience to divine instructions from the scriptures. Read Hebrews 12:14-17 again and identify the divine instructions that believers are to obey. True believers are obedient to divine instructions. They embrace holiness, strive to maintain peace, and keep away from bitterness, greed, sexual immorality, and other vices that spoil interpersonal relationships (Hebrews 12:15-17). Take note of an important additional stipulation attached to being holy in Hebrews 12:14a.
God’s instructions to the Israelites at Sinai were so awe-inspiring (Hebrews 12:18-21) that even Moses declared, “I am trembling with fear” (Hebrews 12:21). Today, people fiddle with handsets and get engrossed with other things while sitting in church services. We should beware not to make light of God’s presence (“Mount Zion”) in the name of being under grace (Hebrews 12:22-24).
Read Hebrews 12:25-28 again and identify God’s warning therein. Israel refused God from speaking to them (Hebrews 12:19). We are warned not to repeat the same (Hebrews 12:25). Refusing to listen to Jesus the mediator of the new Covenant is rejecting eternal life (Hebrews 1:1-2). Notice in Hebrews 12:28-29 why, and how, we should serve the Lord.
