TOPIC: Help Them Rise.
SCRIPTURE READING: Luke 8: 41-56
41 And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus’ feet and begged Him to come to his house, 42 for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying.
But as He went, the multitudes thronged Him. 43 Now a woman, having a flow of blood for twelve years, who had spent all her livelihood on physicians and could not be healed by any, 44 came from behind and touched the border of His garment. And immediately her flow of blood stopped.
45 And Jesus said, “Who touched Me?”
When all denied it, Peter [a]and those with him said, “Master, the multitudes throng and press You, [b]and You say, ‘Who touched Me?’ ”
46 But Jesus said, “Somebody touched Me, for I perceived power going out from Me.” 47 Now when the woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling; and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him and how she was healed immediately.
48 And He said to her, “Daughter, [c]be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
49 While He was still speaking, someone came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, “Your daughter is dead. Do not trouble the [d]Teacher.”
50 But when Jesus heard it, He answered him, saying, “Do not be afraid; only believe, and she will be made well.” 51 When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go [e]in except [f]Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl. 52 Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping.” 53 And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.
54 But He [g]put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” 55 Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat. 56 And her parents were astonished, but He charged them to tell no one what had happened.
FOCUS VERSE: “And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise.” (Luke 8: 54)
Streams of Joy Daily Devotional – 20th November 2025 | MESSAGE
In our Focal Scripture, Jesus took the daughter of Jairus by the hand and told her to arise. Jesus did not only call out to her to arise; He took her by the hand and helped her to arise. Jesus’ command for the maiden to arise was accompanied by some effort to help her to arise. Jesus did not only give a command; He also lent a helping hand so that the maiden can arise. He stretched His hand in order to help the maiden to arise.
Friend, it’s not enough to command people to arise; it’s not enough to declare that everything must arise; there are times when you also need to stretch forth your hands and help whatever or whoever needs to arise, to arise. Stretch your hands and help men to arise. Stretch your hands and make some efforts that will enable people around you to arise. Stretch your hands and show people love and support that will hasten their rising.
Jesus did not begin and end with making a proclamation for the maiden to arise. He also made an effort to enable the maiden to arise. There are people who already have a prophecy to arise, and all they need from you is that little help or that little push that will enable them to arise. Some people only need a little assistance so that they can truly rise. Some people only need you to stretch your hands, and they will rise.
Beyond the lip service of wanting whatever is down to arise, it’s time to take it a step further by lending a hand. It’s time to offer support to people around you who need to arise. It’s time to support friends and family around you who need a little help so they can arise. It’s time to support even those you do not necessarily owe any personal allegiance so that they can arise. It’s time to invest yourself into helping your generation to rise.
You have a mandate in this season to stretch forth your hands and help people to arise. You have a mandate in this season to help your generation to arise.
Isaiah 35: 3 says: “Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.”
Declare With Me: I will stretch forth my hands; I will help men to arise, in Jesus’ name!
